Mexico (2009) - Chichen Itza
Below are pictures from the ruins in Chichen Itza. Of all the ruins we saw these were the furthest away from our hotel in Playa del Carmen. It took us about 3 hours to get there so by the time we arrived everyone was already tired and hungry. There was a lot that we were not able to see, but we did see the main attraction, the Pyramid of Kukulcan.
Mexico (2009) - Tulum
One of our favorite places we visited was the ruins at Tulum. They were located in the most picturesque spot and were easy to walk around (a must with the kids).
It's kind of blurry, but there's an iguana in the background. We saw lots of iguanas in Mexico and Ethan would have loved to have taken one home.

Mexico (2009) - Coba
The first ruins we visited in Mexico were in Coba. These ruins were different from the others we saw because they were mostly unexcavated and surrounded by jungle. While these were not our favorite, they were still really interesting to see.
The Mayans had a game that they played where they had to get a ball through a ring like this. The team that lost or won (no one really knows) was sacrificed.
A lot of people climb the Nohoch Mul pyramid, which is the largest temple in the Yucatan. Elisabeth was a little confused about calling it a temple and kept asking why the temple turned to stone.
